I Got Tagged…

Posted on

I would like to acknowledge these two people, who have nothing more important things to do with their lives but to tag me here, Twistedsunshine and Dmessenjah! πŸ˜€

Here are the rules:

When accepting this auspicious award, you must write a post bragging about it, including the name of the misguided soul who thinks you deserve such acclaim, and link back to said person so everyone knows he or she is real.

Choose a minimum of 7 blogs that you find brilliant in content or design. Or improvise by including bloggers who have no idea who you are because you don’t have 7 friends. Show the 7 random victims’ names and links and leave a harassing comment informing them that they were prized with β€œHonest Weblog.” Well, there’s no prize, but they can keep the nifty icon. List at least ten honest things about yourself. Then, pass it on!

TEN Honest Things About Myself:

1. I consider myself as a writer. I started writing poems and short plays when I was in 4th Grade, my inspiration came from anything and everything I see around me: the sound of flowing water down the river, the swaying leaves from the trees as the wind blows, the laughter of my playmates, a love song playing on the radio…When I reached 5th Grade, I write poems that are customized according to my classmates/friends preferences, they just tell me their story and I will make it for them. πŸ˜‰

2. I have many frustrations in my life. I’m a frustrated Radio DJ, when I was in Highschool I made a demo tape of all the songs I like, made a script on how to introduce the songs in there and dedicated some of it to my friends, who of course heard the tape and liked it a lot. I’m a frustrated fashion designer, I made sketches of dresses, gowns and different outfits, I had them drawn in pieces of paper while I’m manning our little store, but my mom threw it away with most of my poem compositions, she hates clutter, I hate her… I’m a frustrated soldier/policewoman/detective, I was about to apply for a spot inside PMA (Phillipine Military Academy) but my parents did not want me to, they say that it’s not a job for girls, I hate them both… πŸ˜€

3. I watch some episodes of FRIENDS (my most favorite TV series) whenever I feel down, lonely or having a bad day. It never fails to make me laugh and leave me “smiling like there’s a hanger in my mouth”.Β  And when I feel like I want to cry but couldn’t, that’s when I watch chick flicks (most probably “You’ve Got Mail”), so that I will have an excuse for crying like a baby. πŸ˜‰

4. I have mutant powers. I instantly know what kind of a person is the one I am dealing with: their background, their lifestyle, their attitude and personality…just by observing how they talk, they move and deal with other people. I tend to analyze the people around me, but I am not judgmental, intuitive is the more acceptable description. I just knew it and most of the time I am right about it! I can also figure out what a person is really trying to say despite what he/she already said, I get the hidden meaning, and once again I am right most of the time! πŸ˜€

5. I’m a music junkie. Music is my life. I cannot live a day without it…when I hear a new song that I like I will surely research about it, that’s the reason why I know if it’s an original or if it’s a remake. In a lot of instances, I can give you the title and the artist who sang the song that you hear on the radio especially when it is Monsters Riot day! (*winks at Pammie*) I don’t have a particular favorite genre but I am sure not a fan of “hip hop” songs, and mostly I prefer love songs. I also love watching music videos. πŸ˜‰

6. I love nature. I love the relaxing colorful hues of the sunset and the invigorating rays of the sunrise gleaming through my window every morning. I love looking at the moon and stars at night. I love the different kinds and colors of the flowers. I love the sound of the birds chirping, and seeing them fly up in the air. I love the sound of rain falling down from the sky and the smell of the air after it has poured. I love watching the clouds as they move up in the sky and imagining them as objects or animalsΒ  floating around. πŸ˜€

7. I want to travel the world before I die. I want to visit all the tourist spots all over the world starting with our own country. I want to learn the about different cultures and their languages/dialects. And I want to taste the different cuisine from these different places. πŸ˜‰

8. I’m not fond of wearing fancy dresses. I’m more comfortable wearing a pair of jeans, a nice shirt and my new pair of Converse Chucks. I don’t use a lot of make-up on my face, I only use lip gloss and face powder when I go out, sometimes I do forget to put some on until I realize it. The last time I used the full set of make-up (mascara, eyeliner, eye shadow, blush-on, lipstick, etc) was when I was still working at McDonalds way back in 1998. And I don’t have a “beauty” ritual before sleeping (face creams, lotion – I hate lotions, etc.). πŸ˜€

9. I’m the eldest among the 5 siblings, and I grew up insecure about myself. My brother has higher grades in school than me and my sister has always been the one that they call “beautiful” since she’s the only one who’s fair-skinned like our father. Sibling-rivalry has always been an issue in our family. I’m the disciplinarian because I’m always the one being left to take care of my siblings. But now that we’ve all grown up, I am the one whom my siblings ran to when they have problems and needed an advice. Even my mother asks me for some advice when she’s having trouble with my siblings. πŸ˜‰

10. Some random little facts: I can play the guitar, I can sing and dance (but not very pleasing to the eyes and ears…hahaha), I play basketball, I can’t swim (yet), I hate roller coasters, I’m hyperacidic, I eat a lot but I don’t seem to get fat, I don’t slap a person in the face – I punch, I’m wearing contact lenses for almost 14 years now, and I’m 30 years old but I still look 20 – and that’s according to a lot of people! (Wag ka umangal! πŸ˜€ )

Now, the 7 people that I’m tagging (I have no choice, I gotta do it!):

When God Made You…

by: New Song featuring Natalie Grant

(guy) Its always been a mystery to me,
How two hearts can come together,
And love can last forever.
But now that I have found you I believe,
That a miracle has come when God sends the perfect one.
So gone are all my questions about why,
And I’ve never been so sure of anything in my life

Oh I wonder what God was thinking, when he created you.
I wonder if He knew everything I would need,
Because he made all my dreams come true.
When God made you, He must have been thinking about me.

(girl) Ooo ooo,I promise that wherever you may go, wherever life may lead you,
With all my heart I’ll be there too.
And from this moment on I want you to know,
I’ll let nothing come between us, and I will love the ones you love.
(guy) So gone are all my questions about why (girl echoes): about why

(Duet): Oh I wonder what God was thinking when he created you,
I wonder if He knew everythin’ I would need,
Because He made all my dreams come true.
When God made you He must’ve been thinking about me.

He made the sun He made the moon,
To harmonize a perfect tune,
One can’t do without the other they just have to be together.
And that is how I know its true,
Your for me and i’m for you and my world
Just cant be right without you in my life

(guy) He must have heard every prayer I’ve been praying (girl echo)
I’ve been praying (both) He must’ve knew everything I would need

When God made you, He must’ve been thinking about me…

Personal note: This is a continuation of the post “Love Conquers All”, it came from another quotable quote by Col. Asperin when he was talking about how lucky he is to have such a loving and understanding wife…he said: “When God made her, He must be thinking about me…”. It struck me because I know I’ve heard that line before and I know that it came from a song, so I searched for it and I found this song, fit for a wedding day! I got inspired to post this today because of the “wedding proposal” that happened earlier in The Morning Rush where one of the popular Rushers asked Chico and Delle to pop the question: “Will you marry me?”, to his girlfriend that’s with him in his car at that time…of course the girl said YES! I got teary-eyed because of this! What can I say? I’m a hopeless romantic! πŸ˜€

Our Lovapalooza Experience 2009

Posted on

Valentine’s day…I’ve got it all planned out for us to join this year’s Lovapalooza. I asked my MIL to take care of the kids for that day. I forced my husband to sleep when he got home in the morning that day so that he will not get all sleepy all over again!

We almost joined it last 2007…almost because we were already there, already registered but we didn’t go in…why? I got irritated and just wanted to go home because my husband was sleeping all that time that we were inside the movie theater watching The Holiday, that was before the main “kissing” event of the night. I almost left him inside that theater! Don’t get me wrong, I have told him to sleep early that day but he didn’t and told me that he can last the night if we join the Lovapalooza event. Very disappointing…we were walking away from the area while there were still fireworks up in the sky… 😦

This time he listened, and mostly it went according to plan, though we had a slightly rough start that night we still managed to fully enjoy the experience! First, we had the wrong tickets, we only got the ordinary ones:

lovapalooza tickets

That’s why we didn’t get to meet-up with Pareng Liad and his sister, Eres, at the entrance during the event because they have VIP tickets! We circled around the area as Bamboo was performing to look for a better spot then we found the registration booth for couples where the lady assigned there exchanged our ordinary tickets to VIP ones, we just needed to kiss in front of them and of course we did for more than a second, the lady was stunned. Hahaha… πŸ˜€

When we entered the VIP area I am determined to at least reach the middle part so I started pushing my way in holding my husband’s hand tightly…We got a pretty good spot, near one of the cameraman’s post and we’re lucky that the couples near us were all wacky so the cameraman enjoyed taking videos of us waving to the camera! We even got a shot from one of the press people there, he showed us that he took a picture of me and my husband. I have to see that! Hmmm…will it be on print or the website? Oh please, I wanna know! πŸ˜‰

As some of the couples there are moving out that was when we push our way into the crowd…until we reached almost near the stage! By the time Rico Blanco finished his last song we were already a few couples away from the front bar near the stage! And when the countdown for the kissing event began (with Spongecola singing this year’s theme song, Closer You And I), we got a pretty good place where we can be photographed by the press and be included in the videos! Yeah, even if we do not see those pictures or videos we just wanted that moment to be memorable and be archived in the Lovapalooza history! But I do hope that they will feature this event on MTV Phils. I wanna see! πŸ˜€

The Pupil band ended the event with some of their hit songs…Ely Buendia even made an invitation for the Eraserheads Reunion Concert: The Final Set, same venue, on March 7th! Of course we will be there! After the event, we went to meet with Liad and Eres, we planned to have a drink to unwind but unfortunately all “gimik” areas are full of people! So we just ended the night with a little chat inside the Gonuts Donuts store while I’m eating, I got hungry!

For me, this is the best Valentine’s Day so far…I hope that this will not be the last and the next year’s celebration will be equally beautiful, romantic and satisfying. Can’t wait! πŸ˜€

Love Conquers All

Posted on

Yes, it’s this thing called LOVE…This thing that creates a big buzz every time this month of February is in and Valentine’s Day is fast approaching!

LOVE is defined and compared in many ways, some say that love is blind, love is a mystery, love is complicated, love is not a feeling but an ability, love is a poison that can kill a person, etc. I do not have my own definition of what love is but I have this one chapter from the Bible, a letter from Paul, that for me best defines what love truly is.

* 1 Corinthians 13

The Way of Love

1If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.

4Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. 11When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. 12For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.

13So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Love conquers all…yes, it does! Let me share you an excerpt from what Col. Mike Asperin said last Sunday, February 8, 2009, when he was invited to be an inspirational speaker for our Mission Month in our church. It goes something like this, as I remember it:

“One day I asked my wife for some money, she told me to get it from her wallet…so I reached for her wallet and when I opened it I was surprised to see my picture inside it along with some pictures of our kids…I am very much flattered to see my picture in my wife’s wallet and thought that I must have inspired her…and then I told my wife, “I took the P1,000 bill from your wallet…” (a nod is my wife’s answer) then I can’t help but ask, “I saw my picture inside your wallet, why is it there?”…I was fishing for a compliment, then my wife answered, “Every time that I have a big problem that I need to face I open my wallet, look at your picture and say to myself, ‘What problem could be bigger than this?'” πŸ˜€ [laughter broke the silence inside our church]

Perfect example that love indeed conquers all, I say that without love Col. Asperin’s wife would have left him a long time ago because of all the troubles he had caused to himself and his family, a little background – Col. Asperin was one of the soldiers involved in the first coup d’ etat here in the Philippines, he was imprisoned for a long time, he was a notorious soldier in Mindanao, he even was a Muslim – all of these before he became a Born Again Christian and now a very active preacher of the book The Purpose Driven Life to if not all but most of the members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines including the Philippine National Police. Which explains why that was the remark of his wife when he asked about the picture. πŸ˜€

Love conquers all…in my own married life this is true. We’re not the perfect couple, we had our share of mistakes during the course of more than 10 years that we’re together. But still, here we are, together and intact! Ask any person who knows us from our highschool days and they would say the same thing, that me and my husband are total opposites and that they would be wondering why we are still together. How did that happen? Cheesy as it may seem but there is only one answer to all the riddles of this married life – LOVE.

“So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”
