An End of an Era & a Start of Something Not-So-New

Posted on

Change. Change is good. Do not fear change. Change is inevitable. Go with it or deprive yourself from seeing something more beautiful, more awesome, more life.

The end of an era. After almost 3 years of being a “wizard” of the Wedding Wizards I have decided to hang my non-existent magic wand and wizard’s hat. I will not be enumerating here the reasons why I decided to do so but let’s just say that I have finally seen the bigger picture, a realization: the Wedding Wizards team isn’t for me anymore. I have seen changes (which I have chosen to ignore for a couple of years) and I am now moving on with the change. I have left the “old cheese” in pursuit of a “new cheese”. You should read “Who Moved My Cheese” for you to understand the metaphor. It was scary at first, I admit, but there’s no use in staying any longer in a place where you don’t belong in the same page anymore. I am doing this for me, for my own sanity and for my own happiness. I say enough. I say move on.

The start of something not-so-new. As I am still navigating this new maze that I am in I thought of going back to what I can really do best: honing my arts and crafts skills. Way before I joined the Wedding Wizards I have already been crafting and creating something from scratch with my own hands.  I always see things in a different way, in a better light, that’s why I can create a crafting project out of any kind of material. That is also the reason why I almost do not throw anything away. Yes, I am a pack rat. Give me the crafting tools I need, leave me alone with my crafting and I can make a masterpiece out of a garbage-bound material. Thanks to the 3 crafting and DIY influences in my life: my two grandmothers (both really great in sewing, and one of them in crocheting) and my own mother. I have also created some customized items and accessories for the past weddings of the Wedding Wizards.

Now, in line with this not-so-new venture, I have created separate blogsites for my arts and crafts projects. One in Blogspot and one in WordPress. They both have the same content (almost) so you can follow either one. Pardon the quality of photos posted there, I can only do minor adjustments with them. Either I need a new and better digital camera or I need better lighting and more knowledge in camera settings. 😀

Oh, I also have created a Facebook Page for my handmade creations. I hope you will “Like” it. 😉

My final words for this post are already clichés but they are clichés for a reason. Life is too short: Live it. Love it. Laugh with it. Learn to know when enough is enough. Move on as quickly as you can. Accept change. Challenge yourself. Pursue happiness.

Until then.

xoxo

Manila F.A.M.E. International and Sakae Sushi Food Trip

Posted on

April 18th, I went to the SMX Convention Center for the 53rd edition of Manila F.A.M.E. (Furnishings and Apparel Manufacturers’ Exchange) International. I was thinking that maybe because I went on a Monday that’s why there aren’t a lot of people in there. But WOW…the exhibitors were really GREAT! *two thumbs up*

I feasted my eyes on different designs, creations and materials. Perfect for those who are looking for some inspiration to upgrade or spice up their own crafts and of course for those who are looking for unique, edgy and world-class items!

I took some photos using my phone’s camera, although taking pictures were prohibited, I just couldn’t help myself! 😀

After I have satisfied my eyes from that exhibit, it was time to stuff myself up with food! Lucky me I’ve got a friend (*ehem Targrod ehem*) who had his birthday a couple days before so he wanted to treat us on an eat-all-you-can sushi! So I told them that we try Sakae Sushi at the Mall of Asia, since I’m already there…lol

Sakae Sushi is actually a sushi bar (yes, the one with a sushi conveyor belt). Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think they are the first one to offer this kind of dining experience here in the Philippines. The eat-all-you-can sushi (including bottomless green tea) is offered for Php400/person, so if you want to “get even” you have to eat at least 4 red plates of sushi worth Php99/each. The plates are color coded according to the price of each sushi variant. And being the gluttons that we are, we ate at least 8 plates of sushi! I think mine totaled around Php600++. Oh, and by the way, you have got to try their fried tofu plate (a red plate) and lotsa roe sushi (a green plate).  They were so good! YUMMY! (watch out for your cholesterol though with that lotsa roe sushi!)

Here are some photos I have taken from that sushi bar experience:

Now the question is…when is the next “gluttony” food trip, guys? LOL

On Bridal/Wedding Exhibits and Expos…

Posted on

I started having an interest in attending bridal and wedding exhibits since last year. It’s really a result of becoming a partner of the Wedding Wizards and I happen to be the one who’s got more time to attend these expos and exhibits. Well, the goal here is to upgrade myself to the latest trends in the industry and of course to collect brochures from different suppliers for future references.

The first exhibit that I attended was the Wedding Expo Philippines 17th Edition, held at the SMX Convention Center last September 25 & 26, 2010. It was promoted as the biggest gathering of suppliers here in the Philippines. I circled the whole area at least twice just to be sure that I get to see all of the booths of all the suppliers out there. I went home with a lot, and I mean a lot, of brochures that I have to buy a big paper bag for me to be able to take it all home intact. I took some photos from the entrance and was planning to take more photos from the inside but then it was announced that the only people allowed to take pictures of the exhibitors and the whole event were the ones with the media ID tags. Anyway, here are the ones that I got:

Now the second bridal exhibit that I went to was the Weddings & Beyond Bridal Fair, held at the PICC Forum inside the CCP Complex last January 22-23 of this year. I’m quite glad that I attended this event because I’ve found some suppliers who weren’t there at the first expo that I’ve been to. For example, I’ve found some suppliers who offers photo booths that can print photo magnets (great for souvenirs, too!), red carpet/Hollywood set-up and colored balloon backdrops instead of the traditional tarpaulins; and I’ve also seen this amazing supplier of souvenirs and giveaways, their items are all imported (you can really tell by the quality and I’ve already seen their items on display from websites abroad while I am doing some research, I was kind of wondering where to get those so luckily we already have them here!). And this encouraged me more to attend future exhibits and expos because you’ll never know who or what you’ll see and meet. Here are the photos that I’ve got from this event:

And the latest expo that I’ve been to was The 11th Ultimate Wedding/Debut Fair, held at the Megatrade Hall 3 of SM Megamall last January 29-30. Was quite disappointing though because it didn’t live up to it’s name, not very ultimate if I may say so. Yeah, they’ve got some suppliers that I haven’t seen before and some bridal gowns on display that wasn’t at the previous exhibit but they got so few suppliers around. It only took me just minutes to see them all which kinda worked for me at that time since I have to be at Shangri-La Plaza for another event which I will talk about on my next post. But in the meantime, here are some photos I took from this exhibit:

So, there you go…you’ve seen my latest hobby of going to different exhibits, expos and seminars. Yes, it is time, energy and money consuming but I feel satisfied somehow since this kind of activity refreshes my mind. More and more ideas coming in…talk about an upgrade! There’s gonna be more exhibits to attend to this year and I will be posting more about them soon! Until then… 🙂
