Lacuna No More

Posted on

It’s been a year of hiatus on this blogsite but it didn’t mean emptiness. Not at all. It’s just an absence of enough time to spend on writing a blog, I only had time for 140 characters on Twitter and bits of a rant or rave statuses on Facebook.

I missed writing. Modesty aside, I have always believed that I was born to be a writer. It would seem that I have abandoned this belief but that is not the case. I have been busy with a bunch of different things other than writing: with arts and crafts (handmade projects), some upcycling seminars here and there, coordinating a churchmate’s wedding for this month, an administrative job with one of the most respectable wedding suppliers in the country, and assisting my dear mother-in-law in the family business. I should also include being an active member of our Highschool Alumni group in charge of some fund-raising projects and upcoming reunions plus being appointed as the new Secretary of our homeowners’ association. Yes, my plate is overflowing with tasks and activities, but I see them as opportunities to learn and upgrade myself. I don’t plan on growing old as a dull, close-minded woman.

Now, the real reason why I am writing again is because of this website called Language Is A Virus. It provides good writing exercises to help you knock off that writer’s block. Today I’ve got a writing prompt: “I care about…” And this is where I have decided to write about it.

I care about my children. I would like to think that I have been doing a great job raising them but in reality it is a daily struggle for me to decide whether I have to be a protective mother or not. Both of them are teenagers now. *sigh* I just took a cue from Dude Crush when he told Marlin, “…when they know, you know, y’know?” ย At least I am confident my teenagersย know that I am always here to guide them, whenever they need it.

I care about the environment. If you have seen my other blogsite with posts of my handmade creations I think you have already noticed that I am very fond of upcycling stuff. Climate change is not just a myth now and this is one of the reasons why I love sharing my self-acquired knowledge about upcycling, simply known as creative recycling, to other people particularly with the younger ones. I would like to believe that I can make a change by planting a seed of caring for the environment to other people by doing these upcycling seminars. A small drop of water can still cause a ripple in the ocean.

That’s all for now. Thank you for taking time to read this. See you again soon. ๐Ÿ™‚

A Better Education

And so I have enrolled my two kids back to CVS. Even if this decision will almost drain our pockets I still chose this school because I have witnessed how my kids grew and mature.ย Last year was a trial run to see if this school will work for their growing needs, and so far it hasn’t failed me yet. Both of my kids are now active in sports, enthusiastic with their assignments and school projects, and they have gained more self-esteem. Truly, money well spent. ๐Ÿ™‚

Remembering and Honoring Mr. Francis M.

Posted on

โ™ซโ™ช…every color and every hue is represented by me and you…take a slide in the slope, take a look in the kaleidoscope…โ™ซโ™ช

Those lines from his song Kaleidoscope World will never cease to make that emotional impact to me and to every Filipino, who had known Francis”Kiko” Magalona all of their lives. Today, we are remembering this one person who made us all proud to be called a Filipino; he who made us still held on to that HOPE that our country, and our race will rise up despite all the corruption and crab mentality of our so-called leaders. (Honestly, I am shedding my tears as I am writing this… Yes, I do have a heart… lol)

For most of us who have been aware of what has been happening to our country, our government and our leaders, couldn’t help but diss and cuss about being a Filipino. Patriotism has been long gone from our vocabulary. We even have this slogan that says, “Onli In Da Pilipins” where in, we “promote” the stupidity and incapability of the Filipinos. Most of our Kababayans who are working abroad as OFWs do not have faith anymore and will not even go back to work here in our country because they know that working here will only result to that “isang kahig, isang tuka” kind of living. Sad but true. Hurtful but true. For me, Francis Magalona gave us something to look forward to. He made us think and realize that we can do something.

Today on Eat Bulaga, the Magalona Family announced that they have created the Francis Magalona Foundation. Let’s get involved, check out the website. Whining and talking sh*t about our country and fellow Filipinos will get us nowhere (Yes, I am guilty of doing this, too). Now is the time to move, participate, contribute, learn and do what we can to get that CHANGE that we have all dreamed and hoped about. โ˜ผ

The Big Reveal On The Morning Rush With Chico And Delamar!

Posted on

Yesterday, my Twitter timeline was flooded by tweet guesses as to what is this big news that Delle was talking about on her Facebook account. This Facebook status came out after we’ve all read an article about the Top 10 Prettiest Female DJs. And then she retweeted a lot of these guesses about the big news, some of them about Chico and Delle joining reality TV shows, TV guestings, having their own TV programs, releasing a new album, wedding proposals, getting married, getting pregnant, etc. And this anticipation of knowing intensified more when Chico gave 5 clues about this “big reveal.”

And if until now you do not know all about it yet, where the F have you been hiding?! This big reveal even reached other local radio stations and news websites. Okay, fine, read this article from GMA News.

So there you have it…Delle is pregnant, 9 weeks on the way…Okay, I’ll give you more time to get over it, scream your lungs out, cry, cuss, get bitter or whatever, because we definitely needed more time to recover. LOL Now I know what’s the next question that’s gonna linger inside your mind, “Who’s the lucky guy?” If you say it’s Chico, then Delle would answer you, “That is so 90s!” But if you really are a fan and a follower of this duo, then I’m pretty sure you already have an idea who he is…A lucky guy from the long list of sperm donors! JOKE! (patay ako kay Delle nito…)

Oh, Delle, you have broken too many hearts today, hearts of thousands (or even millions) of men who are fantasizing about you every single day! LOL So there should be a list of Top 10 Sexy Mommas, and you’re definitely one of ’em, you sexy Delamama, you!

Of course, we are all happy and supportive of this big reveal…Congratulatory remarks aren’t really enough to express our joy for this upcoming bundle of joy! And with this big news, I’m sure a lot of Rushers will now join the mini-EB this last Saturday of March! LOL I think this upcoming 15th TMR Anniversary Grand EB/Tea Party on July will also become Delle’s Baby Shower! Bongga, di ba? Wooohooo! See you all there! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Look at her latest profile picture, she’s blooming! We love you, Delle! ๐Ÿ™‚

World Vision: Sponsor A Child, Change Lives!

Posted on

What is World Vision

According to their website:

World Vision is a Christian relief, development and advocacy organization dedicated to working with children, families and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by addressing the causes of poverty and injustice. World Vision partners with children and the communities among the poorest areas to help improve lives and combat poverty.”

What they do:

“World Vision strives to build thriving communities where peace and justice prevail and all can enjoy security, opportunity and happiness. World Vision works for the well being of poor and vulnerable people through:

Sustainable development. World Vision works alongside the disadvantaged communities, enabling them to use their own resources, capacities and potentials so that they can own and define their own development process and achieve healthy, fuller lives of dignity, justice and hope.

Disaster relief. World Vision responds to life-threatening situations where its involvement is needed and appropriate, It seeks to protect vulnerable people, especially children amid difficult circumstances by providing emergency relief such as food, water, shelter, medicine and clothing, and preparedness for future disasters.

Raising public awareness and advocating for justice. By increasing understanding of poverty and injustice, World Vision seeks to promote public involvement and government policies that alleviate poverty.”

Sponsor A Child Program

I am fond of kids, especially those who really value the importance of a good education, it never ceases to touch my heart every time I watch documentaries featuring those underprivileged children striving to get to school or even have some school supplies that they can use. I can relate very well since I have a bunch of childhood friends who have experienced the same dilemmas. I have always wanted to give them something, anything, just to help them feel better. But I can only give so much since I am just a kid myself.

And I have this childhood dream of having a big house built inside a huge property where I can let those underprivileged kids to stay, play, learn and help them fulfill their dreams. I want to give them the hope of a brighter future. Since then I have always wanted to participate in the endeavors of charitable institutions focused on children, maybe become a volunteer if not a sponsor…and for me, World Vision’s Sponsor A Child is one great opportunity to get involved, finally! Yes, it is a small thing compared to my childhood dream but this one small thing will help change a little child’s vision of his/her future. And maybe someday he/she will help change lives as well, just like Efren Peรฑaflorida, Jr. and his push-cart classroom for the out-of-school youth.

I've already sponsored one child...and it really made me happy! How about you?

Goodbye 2008…Hello 2009!

Posted on

Only an hour to go and it’s the start of another new year. I am supposed to make this blog earlier but I got caught with things that are not related in the celebration of the New Year’s Eve! ๐Ÿ˜€

I’m reminded to make this blog because of a blog entry by Jhun13 aka Oscar Dela Hopia (his Morning Rush codename!) and I was inspired by his blog…hindi ako gaya-gaya! hehehe… ๐Ÿ˜›

I’ll start by answering here the “quick question” on Jumpstart earlier…”What were the highlights of your life this 2008?” For me, this is the year where I became active as a Rusher, posting in the Morning Rush forum, sending entries for the TOP 10, finally joining the Rushers’ mini-EB, finally meeting Chico and Delamar in person, and became a Junior Moderator for the forum. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Also, this year I have met new friends, new enemies (hahaha…) and got myself some new best friends (hindi ko na iisa-isahin kasi baka may magtampo pa! alam nyo na kung sino kayo! hahaha…). I have also experienced winning some radio promos, like premiere tickets to X-Files (which I didn’t get to watch) and Nights in Rodanthe (where I won some Myra-E products)..and a new friend who won me some of the items from the Colgate and Tekiyakiudon promo! (Oo, ikaw yun, Astroboy na Girl!) And I also experienced to watch a live concert by LIFEHOUSE and ERASERHEADS this year! (Thanks again to Astroboy and Jose De Vengenge sa Lifehouse Concert Tickets!) ๐Ÿ˜€

Though this year of 2008 was tough, especially in the budget area, I am still thankful that I survived this year still sane and still beautiful…I turned 30 this year but I still look 20! Walang aangal! hahaha… ๐Ÿ˜›

And so in the new year of 2009, I am wishing that this will be a great year for me and my family. I have lots of plans and I hope at least some of it will be finalized and will pursue. *praying*

Now, I am bidding GOODBYE to 2008 and saying HELLO to 2009!!!
