An End of an Era & a Start of Something Not-So-New

Posted on

Change. Change is good. Do not fear change. Change is inevitable. Go with it or deprive yourself from seeing something more beautiful, more awesome, more life.

The end of an era. After almost 3 years of being a “wizard” of the Wedding Wizards I have decided to hang my non-existent magic wand and wizard’s hat. I will not be enumerating here the reasons why I decided to do so but let’s just say that I have finally seen the bigger picture, a realization: the Wedding Wizards team isn’t for me anymore. I have seen changes (which I have chosen to ignore for a couple of years) and I am now moving on with the change. I have left the “old cheese” in pursuit of a “new cheese”. You should read “Who Moved My Cheese” for you to understand the metaphor. It was scary at first, I admit, but there’s no use in staying any longer in a place where you don’t belong in the same page anymore. I am doing this for me, for my own sanity and for my own happiness. I say enough. I say move on.

The start of something not-so-new. As I am still navigating this new maze that I am in I thought of going back to what I can really do best: honing my arts and crafts skills. Way before I joined the Wedding Wizards I have already been crafting and creating something from scratch with my own hands.  I always see things in a different way, in a better light, that’s why I can create a crafting project out of any kind of material. That is also the reason why I almost do not throw anything away. Yes, I am a pack rat. Give me the crafting tools I need, leave me alone with my crafting and I can make a masterpiece out of a garbage-bound material. Thanks to the 3 crafting and DIY influences in my life: my two grandmothers (both really great in sewing, and one of them in crocheting) and my own mother. I have also created some customized items and accessories for the past weddings of the Wedding Wizards.

Now, in line with this not-so-new venture, I have created separate blogsites for my arts and crafts projects. One in Blogspot and one in WordPress. They both have the same content (almost) so you can follow either one. Pardon the quality of photos posted there, I can only do minor adjustments with them. Either I need a new and better digital camera or I need better lighting and more knowledge in camera settings. 😀

Oh, I also have created a Facebook Page for my handmade creations. I hope you will “Like” it. 😉

My final words for this post are already clichés but they are clichés for a reason. Life is too short: Live it. Love it. Laugh with it. Learn to know when enough is enough. Move on as quickly as you can. Accept change. Challenge yourself. Pursue happiness.

Until then.

[Short Story] Irony

Sitting inside a coffeeshop. Doing what I do while waiting: people watching. To the right corner, a lady in her early 40s sitting alone, ranting on her phone to a friend about a man (maybe her husband or somebody else’s) that was caught cheating but continues to deny it. To the left slightly hidden corner, young (probably in their late teens) couple sitting side by side, whispering and giggling to their own little secret. All happy and smiling like there’s no reason in the world that can separate them from each other. And in the middle of these two quite interesting corners there’s me.

My Take On The Truth About Love

Posted on

For children, love is a feeling; for adults, love is a decision. ~Orson Scott Card

Love. We all know how powerful it is. It can make a physically strong person weak at the knees; make an intelligent person act like a fool; make a non-believer into a believer, and make the cautious fall into this greatest con in all the history of mankind.

“My heart is breaking for my sister and the con that she call “love”…” (from Some Nights by Fun.)

When we were just a child, we believe in everything that our elders and parents tell us. They say that love is a feeling and it comes from the heart. And when you feel it, you say it, “I love you, mommy…I love you, daddy…I love you, puppy…I love you, teddy bear.”

As we grow older, our views about love become unstable and blurry; especially when you have experienced some unrequited love, rejections and ‘heartbreaks.’ Quick question, why do they call it a ‘heartbreak’ when truth is your heart is still intact inside of you protected by your strong ribcage? Indulge me with your answers. I’m sure most of you will state the pain that it causes inside your chest, where your fist-sized heart is located. It’s like ripping your heart into pieces. Yeah, I’ve had my share of ‘heartbreaks’, too.

Now, as an adult, we somehow have learned from our experiences (or so we think that we did.) We use our ‘brains’ now before we ‘fall in love.’ We think. We analyze; sometimes over-analyze. And we weigh every aspect, every little detail, every pros vs. cons and we shall not give in until we have found enough evidence that this so-called love will work this time. Like I’ve said earlier, love can make a fool out of an intelligent and seasoned person. Most powerful thing in the world, right?

But for me, when you are happy with that person that you think you are ‘in love’ with then just let go and fall. Just be sure that he/she is there to catch you. (Still using our brains, aren’t we? LOL)

So, what is the truth about love? You decide.

The Big Reveal On The Morning Rush With Chico And Delamar!

Posted on

Yesterday, my Twitter timeline was flooded by tweet guesses as to what is this big news that Delle was talking about on her Facebook account. This Facebook status came out after we’ve all read an article about the Top 10 Prettiest Female DJs. And then she retweeted a lot of these guesses about the big news, some of them about Chico and Delle joining reality TV shows, TV guestings, having their own TV programs, releasing a new album, wedding proposals, getting married, getting pregnant, etc. And this anticipation of knowing intensified more when Chico gave 5 clues about this “big reveal.”

And if until now you do not know all about it yet, where the F have you been hiding?! This big reveal even reached other local radio stations and news websites. Okay, fine, read this article from GMA News.

So there you have it…Delle is pregnant, 9 weeks on the way…Okay, I’ll give you more time to get over it, scream your lungs out, cry, cuss, get bitter or whatever, because we definitely needed more time to recover. LOL Now I know what’s the next question that’s gonna linger inside your mind, “Who’s the lucky guy?” If you say it’s Chico, then Delle would answer you, “That is so 90s!” But if you really are a fan and a follower of this duo, then I’m pretty sure you already have an idea who he is…A lucky guy from the long list of sperm donors! JOKE! (patay ako kay Delle nito…)

Oh, Delle, you have broken too many hearts today, hearts of thousands (or even millions) of men who are fantasizing about you every single day! LOL So there should be a list of Top 10 Sexy Mommas, and you’re definitely one of ’em, you sexy Delamama, you!

Of course, we are all happy and supportive of this big reveal…Congratulatory remarks aren’t really enough to express our joy for this upcoming bundle of joy! And with this big news, I’m sure a lot of Rushers will now join the mini-EB this last Saturday of March! LOL I think this upcoming 15th TMR Anniversary Grand EB/Tea Party on July will also become Delle’s Baby Shower! Bongga, di ba? Wooohooo! See you all there! 😉

Look at her latest profile picture, she’s blooming! We love you, Delle! 🙂

Our Lovapalooza Experience 2009

Posted on

Valentine’s day…I’ve got it all planned out for us to join this year’s Lovapalooza. I asked my MIL to take care of the kids for that day. I forced my husband to sleep when he got home in the morning that day so that he will not get all sleepy all over again!

We almost joined it last 2007…almost because we were already there, already registered but we didn’t go in…why? I got irritated and just wanted to go home because my husband was sleeping all that time that we were inside the movie theater watching The Holiday, that was before the main “kissing” event of the night. I almost left him inside that theater! Don’t get me wrong, I have told him to sleep early that day but he didn’t and told me that he can last the night if we join the Lovapalooza event. Very disappointing…we were walking away from the area while there were still fireworks up in the sky… 😦

This time he listened, and mostly it went according to plan, though we had a slightly rough start that night we still managed to fully enjoy the experience! First, we had the wrong tickets, we only got the ordinary ones:

lovapalooza tickets

That’s why we didn’t get to meet-up with Pareng Liad and his sister, Eres, at the entrance during the event because they have VIP tickets! We circled around the area as Bamboo was performing to look for a better spot then we found the registration booth for couples where the lady assigned there exchanged our ordinary tickets to VIP ones, we just needed to kiss in front of them and of course we did for more than a second, the lady was stunned. Hahaha… 😀

When we entered the VIP area I am determined to at least reach the middle part so I started pushing my way in holding my husband’s hand tightly…We got a pretty good spot, near one of the cameraman’s post and we’re lucky that the couples near us were all wacky so the cameraman enjoyed taking videos of us waving to the camera! We even got a shot from one of the press people there, he showed us that he took a picture of me and my husband. I have to see that! Hmmm…will it be on print or the website? Oh please, I wanna know! 😉

As some of the couples there are moving out that was when we push our way into the crowd…until we reached almost near the stage! By the time Rico Blanco finished his last song we were already a few couples away from the front bar near the stage! And when the countdown for the kissing event began (with Spongecola singing this year’s theme song, Closer You And I), we got a pretty good place where we can be photographed by the press and be included in the videos! Yeah, even if we do not see those pictures or videos we just wanted that moment to be memorable and be archived in the Lovapalooza history! But I do hope that they will feature this event on MTV Phils. I wanna see! 😀

The Pupil band ended the event with some of their hit songs…Ely Buendia even made an invitation for the Eraserheads Reunion Concert: The Final Set, same venue, on March 7th! Of course we will be there! After the event, we went to meet with Liad and Eres, we planned to have a drink to unwind but unfortunately all “gimik” areas are full of people! So we just ended the night with a little chat inside the Gonuts Donuts store while I’m eating, I got hungry!

For me, this is the best Valentine’s Day so far…I hope that this will not be the last and the next year’s celebration will be equally beautiful, romantic and satisfying. Can’t wait! 😀

Goodbye 2008…Hello 2009!

Posted on

Only an hour to go and it’s the start of another new year. I am supposed to make this blog earlier but I got caught with things that are not related in the celebration of the New Year’s Eve! 😀

I’m reminded to make this blog because of a blog entry by Jhun13 aka Oscar Dela Hopia (his Morning Rush codename!) and I was inspired by his blog…hindi ako gaya-gaya! hehehe… 😛

I’ll start by answering here the “quick question” on Jumpstart earlier…”What were the highlights of your life this 2008?” For me, this is the year where I became active as a Rusher, posting in the Morning Rush forum, sending entries for the TOP 10, finally joining the Rushers’ mini-EB, finally meeting Chico and Delamar in person, and became a Junior Moderator for the forum. 😉

Also, this year I have met new friends, new enemies (hahaha…) and got myself some new best friends (hindi ko na iisa-isahin kasi baka may magtampo pa! alam nyo na kung sino kayo! hahaha…). I have also experienced winning some radio promos, like premiere tickets to X-Files (which I didn’t get to watch) and Nights in Rodanthe (where I won some Myra-E products)..and a new friend who won me some of the items from the Colgate and Tekiyakiudon promo! (Oo, ikaw yun, Astroboy na Girl!) And I also experienced to watch a live concert by LIFEHOUSE and ERASERHEADS this year! (Thanks again to Astroboy and Jose De Vengenge sa Lifehouse Concert Tickets!) 😀

Though this year of 2008 was tough, especially in the budget area, I am still thankful that I survived this year still sane and still beautiful…I turned 30 this year but I still look 20! Walang aangal! hahaha… 😛

And so in the new year of 2009, I am wishing that this will be a great year for me and my family. I have lots of plans and I hope at least some of it will be finalized and will pursue. *praying*

Now, I am bidding GOODBYE to 2008 and saying HELLO to 2009!!!

Why titled Twilight Soup? Because this blog is a collection of some of the Twilight inspired comments and quotes…found these from the Multiply account of the Twilighters…enjoy! 😉

Soup Number 1:

A normal guy would say: “I love you Baby!”
Edward Cullen would say: “You are my life now.”

Normal Guy would say: “I think I am falling for you.”
Edward Cullen would say: “The Lion fell in Love with the Lamb”

Normal Guy would say: “You hair looks like a haystack; go brush it!”
Edward Cullen would say: “Your hair looks like a haystack… but I like it.”

A normal guy would pick a random song from a random artist and dedicate it to you.
Edward Cullen would sing you a song he wrote for you while playing the piano.

If you die, a normal guy would find another.
If you die, Edward Cullen would kill himself because life without you isn’t worth living.

(“Well, I wasn’t going to live without you..” He rolled his eyes as if that fact were childishly obvious. “..but I wasn’t sure how to do it. I knew Emmet and Jasper would never help so I was thinking maybe I would go to Italy and do something to provoke the Volturi.”)

As you leave the house, a normal guy would say: “Bye, see ya!”
As you leave the house Edward Cullen would say: “Come back to me, love.”

(He smiled my favorite smile. “Hurry back to me.”

As you come back home, a normal guy would be watching TV and wouldn’t even notice.
As you come back home, Edward Cullen would be welcoming you by playing the piano with a song just for you.

(“I heard the music before I was out of the car. Edward hadn’t touched his piano since the night Alice left. Now, as I shut the door, I heard the song morph through a bridge and change into my lullaby. Edward was welcoming me home.’)

A normal guy would wait for you to make him breakfast.
Edward Cullen would make you breakfast everyday.

While you are both out for dinner, a normal guy wouldn’t keep his eyes off the sexy waitress.
Edward Cullen wouldn’t even notice the waitress was a female.

A normal guy, while driving, would keep one hand on the wheel and one hand on the radio.
Edward Cullen, while driving, would keep one hand on the wheel and the other attached to yours.

While far apart in different places, a normal guy would say: “I miss you.”
While far apart in different places, Edward Cullen would say: “It’s like you’ve taken half myself with you”

A normal guy wouldn’t care or notice if you had nightmares.
Edward Cullen would sing until your nightmares went away.

(“Do you want me to sing to you? I’ll sing all night if it will keep the bad dreams away.”)

A normal guy does it with everyone.
Edward Cullen only does it with one.

A normal guy buys you flowers and chocolates.
Edward Cullen buys you a car.

Soup Number 2:

This one is a link of 28 Reasons That ‘Twilight the Movie’ is Better Than ‘Twilight the Book’ :

I have nothing against the novel nor the movie because both of them I enjoyed, but I can’t help but laugh in this very entertaining slideshow comparing the two! 😀

Soup Number 3:

I saw this link about a petition for the continuation of Midnight Sun (Edward’s Point of View of Twilight). If you’re interested to participate in this petition like I did, because I want to read it all-it’s much more interesting than Bella’s story of Twilight, click this link:

Soup Number 4:

Okay, before I watched the Twilight movie I already have this idea that it will not fit all of the key scenes and turning points from the novel. But when I saw the movie, though I pretty much enjoyed it, there are a number of very important key points that were omitted and I know that it will badly affect the next movie which is New Moon or even the next sequels of the movie until Breaking Dawn. These key points were also discussed between me and my friends who happened to have read all of the novels like I did. And when I found this link with an article entitled “10 Critical Ways the Twilight Movie Differs from the book”, I totally agree to all of these key points and it felt like what was going on inside my head about these key points were written for me! Here is the link:

And if in your own opinion there are still more key points that were left out, please feel free to post a comment in this blog! Thanks! 😉

Soup Number 5:

Now, this is sooo cute! Definitely in the top 3 of my Twilight collectibles wish list!
